It’s boring sitting inside all day – Shinya wants to go outside, to stretch his limbs. Granted, it’s also the middle of summer and probably too hot for Mika to be running around.
He also doesn’t have a key to lock up the house with. Shinya blows a quiet raspberry and frowns, tilting his head at Mika without actually registering that the child’s there. “How upset would your father be if we went to the convenience store down the street? For ice cream, I mean.”

“I mean, if he found out…” Though it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that his dad was one to set up hidden cameras throughout the house, the boy had snuck out far too many times for that to be the case; the only repercussions came from when the man was physically home to catch him, which hadn’t happened since he’d gone to Shinya’s apartment. Still, there was the problem of leaving the house unlocked, but Mika had a solution to that. “You could go out the front door and I could lock it and then leave the way I usually do?” he suggested.
